For our first update of 2025, we’re thrilled to bring you an exciting array of updates and features to explore in Menyr. This is an important year for the project as it is the year Menyr will release for everyone! Let’s take a closer look at what’s in store.
Patch 0.6 & Stream Replay
Since releasing patch 0.5 in November, we’ve been hard at work on the patch 0.6 update, and it’s finally here! This patch introduces access to the interactive lobby, universes, and dungeon map building. It also includes an expanded system for sharing and discovering snippets, making it easier to speed up your creative workflow. This is the last update before the Open Beta coming VERY soon! Introducing Lobbies & Universes
At last, the much-anticipated lobby system is live and ready for you to explore! The lobby acts as a central hub where all the maps within a universe are gathered around a virtual table. Currently, it offers a seamless way to organize your maps, but future updates will add customization options and campaign management tools. Now, when you create a new map, it will automatically belong to a universe. This means you can switch between maps directly from the lobby without having to return to the main menu or risk disconnecting from your friends and players.
Dungeons Are Finally Here
After much anticipation, dungeons are now available to build and play in Menyr! As you can see in the screenshots in this update, all taken in-game, you can create intricate, multilevel dungeons with customizable roofs or use the automatic roof removal feature for top-down gameplay. Whether you choose to handcraft each room or use snippets to speed up the process, the possibilities are endless. With dungeons in your toolkit, it’s time to let your imagination run wild. Build the most chilling, trap-filled adventures imaginable and watch your players navigate your creations—if they dare!
Retrocompatibility
One of the most anticipated feature by world builders in our community to start building their worlds seriously in Menyr: retrocompatibility! With 0.6 available now in Steam, it is now a reality, and everything you build is here to stay! That means that whether you want to create an intricate open world, a complex dungeon or a myriad of snippets for you to populate your maps, you can do so and they will forever be compatible in Menyr.
Share and Discover Snippets
Snippets were introduced in the last update, and with the arrival of dungeons, they’ve become even more essential. These pre-made templates allow you to quickly add immersive details to your creations. By joining our Discord server, you can access an ever-growing library of snippets shared by the Menyr team and the community. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or ready to share your own designs, the snippet sharing channel is the place to be.

Hello adventurers!
The team has been hard at work since our last kickstarter update! In this post we'll tackle some important announcements about our updated roadmap, development challenges, and we'll give you a bigger insight into version 0.5, update you can download as you read these lines!
📉Development Challenges
2024 has been a challenging year for our team. As you may know, the entire entertainment industry has been hit by uncertainty and after many layovers and killed projects, many companies had to close their doors. This is not the case for NOG but we have been deeply affected nonetheless. Another unexpected reason is the fact that we were relying on some revenue from selling beta access and got prevented from doing that by Steam. With fewer resources and a smaller team, development has slowed down.
On the bright side of these delays, Unreal Engine 5.5 and Voxel Plugin 2.0, softwares we use for Menyr, will be out soon, which help us solve several technical challenges and we plan to transition as soon as possible when they do. It means some parts of Menyr will look like they took a step BACK, but this is in fact a voluntary move from us. If we waited for every aspect to improve to release a new build, it would just take longer and we greatly value your feedback so we decided to go forward with releasing versions that can include features put on the side.
I’ll give you the most flagrant exemple you will notice when you load up Menyr: there is no nearby foliage anymore (grass, little rocks, branches etc) until every tree in the map is loaded, which can take a while on first load. We had the choice between fixing this ourselves, the whole tech team working on this feature alone for at least a month, OR waiting for the Unreal Engine 5.5 update for it to fix it for us. With UE 5.5, this foliage will load instantaneously. It means delivering a version to you with foliage taking a long while to load, but leveraging external work as efficiently as possible.
Important Roadmap Update
The Public Early Access release is now planned for February 2025. As explained in a previous update, this release will include many key features, but not every feature listed during our Kickstarter campaign—that will come with Full Release (1.0), which is not yet dated. Version 1.0 will deliver all Kickstarter listed features. Stretch goals and rewards will come both during EA and post 1.0 release.
🚀Current Progress and 0.5 version
This build will be extremely useful for stress-testing our architecture building system. It also includes a few neat things like new game intro, introduction to the tutorials, slection rectangle, new landforms, includes significant progress in fixing architecture and snapping issues, and makes a huge step towards live sandcastle building. You can now update Steam to discover this Menyr update! Don't forget to give us any feedback you can as this will definitely help us bring Menyr to the standards we're aiming to get!
If version 0.5 performs well, version 0.6 should be right behind, introducing retrocompatibility and bring smaller, more targeted changes to core systems. Instand foliage should return in 0.6 alongside dungeons, interactive Lobby and multiboard features (creating Universes with multiple maps that you can load seamlessly from the lobby).
More About the Tutorials Update and Live Sandcastle!
Yes, it’s finally here—the Live Sandcastle feature is available! So, what does this mean for you? You can now watch your shapes and landforms evolve in real time as you sculpt, making it easier than ever to create immersive maps. This feature lets you preview your map's terrain before adding elements like foliage and bodies of water, helping you streamline your workflow and save valuable time.
This update also introduces new and improved tutorials, now seamlessly integrated directly within Menyr! When you launch Menyr for the first time, you’ll be guided step-by-step, making it much easier to get the hang of all the features—even if you’re completely new to software like this.

August is upon us, and with it comes a treasure trove of updates and exciting news about the future of Menyr!
📅 Roadmap Update and Early Access Release
As you all know, we're aiming to do something unique with Menyr. We're striving to achieve unprecedented feats, such as procedurally generating 100 km2 of terrain, providing the best graphics ever seen in a VTT, and offering it all for free. The complexity of creating Menyr surpasses anything we've done before and is more ambitious than we initially thought.
The bad news? It’ll take longer than anticipated. The good news? We can absolutely pull this off with enough time.
Our 2024 timeline has been adjusted. Version 0.5 is now slated for an August release, featuring Multi Board Universes, Buildings, and Prefabs. By the end of the year, we will launch Menyr in early access, available for free to everyone.
Some features will follow after the early access release, including Procedural Dungeons, Houses & Villages, Game Systems and Automation, the Codex, World Maps, Complex Events & Layer System, and the Custom Asset Importer.
🏡 Incoming Feature: Prefabs
We're excited to introduce Prefabs, a feature that will enhance your creative capabilities! With Prefabs, you can create sets of assets and items, and share them with friends using a simple code system. Whether it's a meticulously crafted house or an elaborate kitchen set, sharing your creations will be as easy as copy and paste, seamlessly integrating into your friends' worlds.

As you read this update, Menyr 0.4 is already live on Steam. This means that you can now use your guest seats and invite your friends. 100km² Procedural Terrain Generation 🌎
You can now generate 100km² (about 38²mi) in a single click! Creating beautiful, realistic worlds in under a minute is now at your fingertips. Improvements to the system will be continuous.
Biome Painting Tool 🌲
The environment is now more customizable than ever! With the biome painting tool, you can create custom worlds that transition through forests, rocky areas, pine trees, plains, and beaches exactly as you want.
2D and 3D Tokens Advanced Options 🧙
Whether you want 3D controllable tokens with various stances (holding a torch or a crate, hands tied, wounded, etc.) or 2D tokens, a large variety of options are available to fit your play style. Display the character base, tokens facing your camera, and custom URL 2D tokens.
Revamped Sandcastle Tool
We've overhauled the sandcastle tool to provide a smoother building experience. The tool is now divided into four steps:
Generate: Procedurally generates random worlds for endless possibilities in a single click.
Edit: Allows you to manually move and customize landforms, as well as modify those that were procedurally generated.
Geology: Gives you control over erosion and ground definition for a more detailed final render of your world.
Biome Painting: Fine tune your maps yo your liking by repainting any biome to another one of your choice.
Play Mode
It’s finally here! Invite your friends and set up your map. Use the worlds you’ve created in build mode, complete with points of interest and weather options, to host immersive games. This mode includes dice, the new measurement tool, and tokens for a rich gaming experience.
